The Many Faces of NFTs

by | Mar 8, 2022

What’s up, everyone? It’s Matt here.

Today, we’ll take a look at the fascinating world of NFTs…

A lot of people think they’re million-dollar pictures of rocks or $69 million single-hit art pieces. For the record, I’d take singles of that size any day.

But there’s more to NFTs than meets the eye … and not just for the lucky few that turn NFT-ing into their get-out-of-college ticket.

Let’s get a closer look at some of the innovative ways NFTs are changing our lifestyles.

NFTs: The Bigger Picture

What should you know about non-fungible tokens (aka NFTs)? Let’s break down some key points.

Charitable NFTs

That’s right. It’s not just about some kid turning a quick profit in a basement anymore. NFTs have a lot of heart these days.

With all eyes on Ukraine right now, this key story hasn’t gotten much press. But the Wang network put together a “RELI3F” effort with Ukrainian artists — and raised a whopping $1 million dollars in 30 seconds!

Now the Ukrainian government announced it’ll sell NFTs alongside war bonds to help fund their defense against Russia.

And domestically, NFT toilet paper rolls raised $7 million to wipe out medical debt for low-income families. No pandemic necessary for these hot commodities.

NFTs for Everyday Life

Restaurateur Gary Vaynerchuk opened FlyFish in Manhattan earlier this year, dubbing it the “world’s first NFT restaurant.”

Don’t worry — diners get to eat real food (globally inspired seafood, in fact). But you’ll need a prized NFT token to gain access to this exclusive dining experience.

Prices have ranged from 2.5 ETH (around $8,300) to 5.2 ETH (about $14,000).

Video games are another leisure play seeing a rise in NFTs. From avatars to metaverse execs and angel investor endorsements — everyone’s talking about new ways to incorporate NFT art into gaming culture. It’s a natural fit for the animation-heavy industry.

Even music is buying into the frenzy.

Artists like Deadmau5, Grimes, 3Lau, Jacques Greene, and Kings of Leon all bypassed traditional streaming models to release their music as NFTs. To date, artists have auctioned off unreleased singles and dropped entire albums on the blockchain.

Conclusion

The world of NFTs is shaking up the way we interact with technology and inspiring new ideas.

Whenever a new product comes onto the scene, natural momentum builds around its rarity. The more new and uncharted a project is, the more interesting it becomes to the masses.
